Yes, Please!

Here are a few of the things that are on my "need right now list"

I love the fun shape of this beachcomber tulip basket from Pottery Barn.

I love the color of these French Blue napkins from Williams Sonoma. I have a lot of this color in my house but I don't have napkins this color. Need to fix that!

I love the shape of these French wine glasses from Crate and Barrel and they are under $5 each! Yes, Please!

I discovered this brand last Christmas when I purchased a set of face masks they had on special and I fell in love. Every time I use this brand I see a noticeable difference in my skin.

These Honey Bee Diptych's are on sale at One Kings Lane!

Dallas

Chad took a week off from work last week so we decided to take a quick trip up to Dallas to see his sister.

We visted the Lego Discovery Center they have there. There are a couple of rides, a 4 D movie, lego building, climbing area and a store. It kept the boys entertained for a couple of hours. They both love Legos. It's the number one toy they play with.

We took the boys bowling for the first time. They were excited at first but upon learning they had to wait their turn after each set they grew bored and became little monkeys climbing on everything.

Another first for the boys was fishing. Zack was the only one to get a nibble on his hook. The fish preferred the hot dogs over the marshmallow. Next time we will bring worms. Dylan tired of it quickly but Zack really enjoyed it.

Updated Fireplace

Since Chad had an entire week off, I decided to plead with him to retile the fireplace and he was sweet enough to do it!

I forgot to take an actual before picture so here is one I took shortly after we moved in. Tan tile the same color as our floor.

And after!!! I love it! It has a lot of blues, grays, creams and some smooth and rough texture. We didn't retile the area on the floor in front of the fireplace yet. I hope to get dark hardwood floors in the next 2-3 years so we will do it then.

Happy Birthday America!

We started the Fourth of July out in our neighborhood parade. This was the first year they did it and there was such a great turn out and it was so much fun.

Then we headed to the pool to cool off because July in Texas is crazy HOT! For lunch Chad grilled some hot dogs and my mom and the boys created a fruit pizza.
The boys usually go to bed around 7:30 pm and Dylan still isn't too into fireworks because of the noise so we celebrated before it was dark.

My parents came over for dinner and then we headed outside for fireworks.

And then Zack got a lesson from Grammy on taking pictures. He is taking after her :-)

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!

A Trip to the Railroad Musuem

We go to the Railroad Museum at least once a month. We always start out with a trip to our favorite old time soda fountain shop. We went twice this day. Once for lunch, then we visited the museum and then we stopped back by for dessert!

At the museum the boys started with a find and seek. A piece of paper with images we had to find inside the museum. Then we headed outside to look in the caboose and operating station and then of course the model train.

Dining Room in transition

We've lived in our house for a year now. All my rooms need a little work and it's hard to pick where to start. None of the rooms need anything major, I just need to add some more layers.

Here is the current state of my dining room. Not awful but kind of boring.

I've ordered this rug to replace the one I have. It's suppose to arrive today!

I would like to add board and batten on the lower half of the walls and possibly wallpaper the top. I'm still looking for fabric to recover the seats of the wood chairs. I sent for a sample of this one.

It's also on my list to paint the small buffet I have but I'm still unsure which color. Blue, grey, blue-grey.... I'll post pictures of my progress.

Take me out to the ballgame!

I bought my dad some tickets to see a minor league baseball team for Father's Day. Despite the extreme heat, we still had a good time. The kids tired after an hour and a half so we didn't stay for the entire thing but they got a taste of baseball and will hopefully enjoy going to games in the future.
