Take me out to the ballgame!

I bought my dad some tickets to see a minor league baseball team for Father's Day. Despite the extreme heat, we still had a good time. The kids tired after an hour and a half so we didn't stay for the entire thing but they got a taste of baseball and will hopefully enjoy going to games in the future.

Happy Father's Day

The boys were so excited to give their daddy the presents that they had made in preschool last month. We had a quiet Father's Day. Just hung out at home and enjoyed spending time as a family.

Lost Pines

Chad and I celebrated our 18th anniversary a couple of weeks early and headed to Hyatt Lost Pines Resort near Austin to spend the day and then attend a Darius Rucker concert that night.

Lost Pines was so pretty it reminded me of the family resort from Dirty Dancing. I would love to bring the boys there some day. Chad and I ate lunch as soon as we got there and then went and changed into our suits to hit up the lazy river. I love a lazy river. I could float for days! Then we took a little bike ride before returning to our room to clean up for the concert.
We had a great time at the concert despite the heat!!! It gets so HOT in Texas. I kept worring about the guys on stage. One of the acts had on jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket!!!

Best house ever!

I believe this may be one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. It was featured in the April 2016 Southern Living issue. So much texture and I love the colors. Blue and Green and pops of Turquoise. The colors I currently have in my home.

Love at first sight!

So I just ordered these off of Sole Society! They are on sale, final sale for $49.

Grammy and Pop Pop Visit!

I am so blessed to have my parents so close. They love the boys like crazy and are the best Grammy and Pop Pop ever! They build Legos, forts, play baby dragons (don't ask) and whatever else the boys might dream up.

Spa, anyone?

We live in Texas and we have had an unbelievable amount of rain these past few weeks. Our backyard for a while was a swimming hole and now it has turned into a mud hole.

We have lived in our house for a year and are slowly making things our own. The former owner was a gardener and as much as I love gardens, I can't keep up with all the flower beds so we are in the process of removing a few. We let the boys have some fun playing in the mud and then the fun escalated to this! A full on mud bath.

The boys had the best time. Zack thought it was hilarious laying down in the mud and Dylan kept getting "stuck" and needing help out.

Raspberry Crumble Bars

I love this recipe. They are so good and always a crowd pleaser but so easy! I've made them for the Super Bowl, Bake Sales, and to give away.

Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) Raspberry Crumble Bars

1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 -1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
10 to 12 ounces good raspberry jam, such as Hero
2/3 cup good granola without dried fruit
1/4 cup sliced almonds
Confectioners' sugar, for sprinkling

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Place the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and mix on medium speed just until combined. With the mixer on low, add the vanilla.

Sift the flour and salt together and, with the mixer on low, slowly add to the butter mixture, mixing until it almost comes together in a ball. Turn the dough out on a board. Lightly pat two-thirds of the dough evenly on the bottom of a 9-inch square baking pan and about 1/4-inch up the sides. Spread with the jam, leaving a 1/4-inch border.

Mix the granola into the remaining dough with your hands. Break the dough into small bits and distribute it on top of the jam, covering most of the surface. Sprinkle the almonds on top. Bake the bars for 45 minutes, until lightly browned.

Cool completely and cut into 9 or 12 bars. Sprinkle lightly with confectioners' sugar.

A few new favorites!

I came across Nickel & Suede a few weeks ago. They design earrings - large earrings out of leather. So even though they are big, they are as light as air! And I love big earrings so this is a game changer for me. I purchased the below pair and love them!

My second find is Bourbon & Boweties. They have a collection of the prettiest, well priced bracelets. And they are made in the USA! I purchased a white pearl one but I would love to add a mix of colors. With two little ones, I dress simple but it's easy to add cute earrings and a bracelet and feel a little more put together.

My last find probably isn't really a find. Essie nail polish. I haven't have much luck with the lighter colors everyone seems to like. My nails always look streaky but I did find a couple of colors that I can't get enough of. The top is Watermelon and the bottom is Fiesta and I think they are perfect colors for summer!

 Enjoy your week!

Lulie Wallace Love!

I recently came across an artist that I love! Lulie Wallace. You may have already heard of her but I came across her artwork on another blog and it was love at first sight.

I love that the subject is flowers but not too sweet. I love the colors and the amount of detail in each piece of work. I ordered a couple of prints below to add to my bedroom. I usually just decorate with family photos around my home but I am trying to break it up a little bit and I think this is a great start. She is currently working on a new series called Southern Flowers. Can't wait!

Welcome to my blog!

Hi! My name is Lisa Newding and I've decided to start a blog for a couple of reasons. I want to capture this time in my life when my boys are so young. I'm a SAHM in Texas and  I have a 3 and an almost 5 year old and I love the idea of capturing the everyday moments in detail where I can look back on them and they will be able to look back on them too. Also, I love decorating my home and I want a place to be able to express that in words and share ideas and progress.
